Western and Vedic charts can begin with the same birth moment and still display planets in different signs. The difference is usually the zodiac reference. Lore of Stars uses a tropical zodiac for the Western chart and a Lahiri sidereal zodiac for the Vedic chart, and those settings remain separate throughout calculation and rendering. In the Swiss Ephemeris documentation, the regular planetary ephemerides are tropical and begin from the spring equinox point. For a Lahiri sidereal result, the engine applies the selected ayanamsha to the tropical longitude. The programmer's documentation defines the relationship directly: the ayanamsha is the tropical position minus the sidereal position. This is why copying a displayed Western sign into a Vedic chart would be wrong. Lore of Stars calculates the astronomical longitude first, then produces the Western tropical result and the Vedic Lahiri sidereal result through separate paths. A Vedic position is not inferred from the Western chart artwork, and a Western position is not taken from a Vedic sign table. Interpretation must also stay inside its own method. The Western chart uses its selected tropical house system and Western aspect framework. The Vedic pages use sidereal signs, Lagna-based chart logic, nakshatras, divisional charts, and timing rules defined for that system. Similar planet names do not make the two interpretive frameworks interchangeable. When comparing two calculators, check the zodiac setting, ayanamsha, house system, node setting, time zone, and coordinates before calling a difference an error. A reliable report states those settings clearly and reproduces the same output when the same inputs and method choices are used.
